Shares of Mahindra and Mahindra Limited (M&M) fell more than 1% to Rs 1,536 in early trading on August 21 after the company announced it would test a select number of XUV cars, including more than 1.08 thousand XUV700 and 3,560 XUV. its EV XUV400 crossover.
The inspected vehicles will be repaired as needed, the company said in a sales filing on August 18. The XUV700s tested were manufactured in the two years prior to June 2023. , the XUV400s examined were manufactured between February and June of this year. In addition, 3,560 XUV400 vehicles, manufactured between February 16, 2023 and June 5, 2023, will be inspected due to concerns about ineffective spring return operation of the brake potentiometer.
The company also adds that subsequent inspection and remediation will be made free of charge to all customers, who will be contacted separately.
In December last year, M&M issued a recall order totaling 6,618 Scorpio-Ns and 12,566 XUV700s. These vehicles were manufactured between July 1 and November 11, 2022. M&M issued a statement indicating that there was an error in the supplier’s factory grading process, on specific dates. may have affected the working size gap of the rubber bellows inside the bell housing.
