The city government said flooding was observed in Matunga, DN Nagar, Byculla, Trombay, Azad Maidan, Kandivali, Kalbadevi, Oshiwara, Dahisar, Magathane at 3:30 p.m., with water levels approaching half a foot in most of these areas. Most parts of Mumbai see light rain, with occasional to heavy downpours on Friday, but the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts heavy to very heavy rain in the city. Officials said while rain intensity decreased, no major flooding was reported in the municipality. Some motorists complain that traffic on the east and west highways moves slowly, but there are no problems on the east highway linking Chembur with south Mumbai.
